The watering rule comes from Maria Thun’s biodynamic sowing calendar: on leaf days — when the moon stands in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) — plants are said to take up and use water best.
Flower days (air signs) count as poor watering days instead: water is said to evaporate rather than serve the plant. In practice that means a good watering day comes around every two to three days by itself.
